2007-2010

Real Networks  GameHouse.com

Project Details

I was brought in by RealNetworks after their acquisition of the games studio GameHouse to turn around its direct to consumer (D2C) website. Working with my marketing manager, I redesigned the site, SEO strategy, and the acquisition approach, and within a year grew the business from $10 to $40 million in revenue.   Real Networks promoted me to Creative Manager of their gaming division. I managed their games studio subsidiaries and both their internal and external design teams. I built a new inhouse UX design team from scratch and managed 6 UX designers directly on a biz/dev team of over 100 along with a variety of international design teams building landing pages and additional content. After continued success with the GameHouse brand, I migrated their original flagship D2C site RealArcade.com and userbase (120k subs – $14.4 mill annual revenue) to the GameHouse site/brand at 99% success.

I created several versions of the homepage for changing business models, user customized widgets, highly optimized details pages, qualitative user reviews, online game play experience, site wide search, download queuing and more.  I also created new brands for satellite gaming sites.

I also helped create a social and cross-platform strategy, defining the concept of social commodity and bridging parallel streams of game development across different gaming platforms, becoming a global leader in social gaming.

Contributions: navigation and user flow, SEO structure, site design and art, all production art, branding, icons, front end development, preceding user studies and analysis.
